How do you get yourself out of a downer? Or prevent it?

I’m familiar with the standard methods: eating well, getting enough sleep, exercising, and cutting back on caffeine. But aside from those, do you have any other strategies, particularly when you’ve lost interest in your usual activities? What helps you in those situations?

I’m unable to engage in this activity when my depression is severe only when moderately depressed or better.

I make myself write a list of things to try and do for that day and I tick them off as I do them. There will always be things I don’t want to do but I can force myself. Sometimes I don’t do them all but doing some is better than nothing and not moving at all. When it’s worse than that I have to just ride the storm out and keep taking my meds and hope for the best.

Finding sexual partners appears to be simpler for women, given that men are generally less selective in that aspect. However, it’s not necessarily easier for women to find loving life partners.

Just inquire with any single woman about the challenges of dating, and you’ll likely hear about the multitude of creeps they’ve encountered. The dating scene can be a daunting experience for many women.
