This happened two hours ago. He got really close to her face and then spit at her. I stepped in to stop it from getting worse and called it an assault. He gets angry quickly, especially when my mom knows how to upset him. I checked a few more times to see if they started fighting again. He came back once to yell at her.

After that, they stopped talking, which usually means it’s over. This has been happening my whole life, and I usually just watch. But I worry that one day my mom might make him really angry. It’s partly because of me that they stay together, but they also have property together. It’s just a really unhappy family situation.

At home, my parents often had the same fights. I always had to step in. The police were called many times, and I had to deal with them at the door. Even though I wasn’t involved, I took the blame. They just said, “Oh, it’s the teenager causing trouble again!” to cover up. It was a terrible place to grow up in. I hope you can leave as soon as possible.
