After my nearly breakdown this afternoon seriously thinking of coming Facebook and similar platforms to focus on myself and what I really need. My emotions need attention before anything else, maybe now is the right time to do something about it.

I highly recommend it. I’ve deleted all my social media in 2021 and never regretted it. For those of us going through a tough time, trying to keep up appearances on social media and seeing others flaunt their seemingly perfect lives can be really tough. Without social media, you can focus more on your own life and what’s really important, rather than spending energy seeking approval and validation online.

I agree with everyone. I am thinking of deleting my social media accounts and just focusing on myself. I find it’s getting to be stressful everytime i log into my social media.

I think that the decision to come off of or get on to social media is something that each person needs to make for themselves. In my case, social media has actually been beneficial because it has allowed me to stay in touch with friends and has helped me find community when I thought I never would. That being said, there have been quite a few accounts that I followed at one point, realized they were harmful to my mental health, and then unfollowed. For me, this has meant that social media has been a net positive in spite of the issues I have had with it. However, I absolutely realize that for many people this is not the case and I think that if you are considering deleting social media, that is likely the right decision for you. I find that I rarely seriously consider making large decisions if they are not the right call. My one suggestion would be that you could delete the apps but not your account, and if the account is public, you can switch it to private so that no one can view it while you are off social media. I only make this suggestion in case you think you might want to get in to your account again at some point (in my case I have photos on there that I no longer have on my phone and I don’t want to lose them). However, if you choose to fully delete your accounts, that is an absolutely valid decision.
