I’ve struggles with anxiety for most of my life. Having supportive friends has been massively helpful to me when it comes to coping, but supportive friends are often hard to find, especially when you might have anxiety about talking to people. I would say that keeping busy also helps me. When I have something specific to focus on and I am able to lay out a plan to do it and then follow that, it allows me to focus in on that and focus less on the anxious thoughts I might be having. In my specific case, I do cosplay and sew, and having a long term project that challenges me in a way that I like really helps, both because I find it fun, and because I am able to occupy myself with it. It also feels incredibly productive when I find myself making progress on it which also helps quiet my anxious thoughts. Finally, seeking therapy and having a good therapist has helped me immensely. I realize that therapy can be very expensive and often financially inaccessible, so my best resources are the following: the first is psychology today’s find a therapist page. There you are able to filter by location, gender, style of therapy, and which insurances they accept, as well as several other things. In addition, some schools offer free or discounted mental health counseling. Hope this helps.
