I got assigned to a psychologist for the first time, my appointment is on the 20th. I don’t know if it’ll work, I don’t know what I expect… I’m doing it for my friend, she said it’s our best bet since I’m very bad at this point. But anyway…

What should I expect? What will they ask me? How do you start a conversation? Where do I begin? How do I get a diagnosis?

I’m full of questions. I’m nervous and I don’t know where to begin, I don’t know what to talk about or how.

Is there anyone with prior knowledge? Some help, please?

@AdibMy advice to you is not to worry and be honest. Without honesty, you will get nowhere.
I hope this eases the mind a wee bit.

Hey Adib, I also began therapy not too long ago and had similar questions to yours. I didn’t know what to expect. Just remember that psychologists or therapists typically have some questions prepared for the first sessions, such as “Tell me about yourself”, “what made you decide to seek help?”, and “What are you experiencing or what are your symptoms?” These initial sessions are meant to give your psychologist or therapist an understanding of your situation. It can be nerve-wracking, but my advice is to at least come prepared with your main concerns and symptoms.

            Best of luck.

              Greetings Adib,

My opinion is that when we decide that we want help, as well as need help from a professional, don’t prepare, or overthink, just take you, your thoughts, your words, and your responses.

              I wish you serenity.
